Obi-Wan Kenobi’s Jedi Starfighter Review (75333)

Hey everyone! Today I’ll be reviewing the LEGO Star Wars Obi-Wan Kenobi’s Jedi Starfighter set.

Since the set isn’t too big, I’ll go through the three minifigures that come with it first, and then move onto the actual starfighter.

The three minifigures are:

Obi-Wan Kenobi – obviously, it would be a disgrace if LEGO didn’t include Obi-Wan in OBI-WAN’S Starfighter! Kenobi has been designed really well, and has a double-sided head, along with a separate hood piece which he can wear instead of his hair piece. He also comes with his classic blue lightsaber.

R4-P17 – Obi-Wan’s astromech droid. R4-P17 is the same design as all LEGO Star Wars astromech droids, so there isn’t much that’s unique about her.

Taun We – A Kaminoan, which is a species in Star Wars who are very skilled at cloning. Taun We is very interesting because she has a completely new mould for her head. Kaminoans in Star Wars have long necks which are topped with small heads, and I think LEGO managed to get the look pretty well right.

Ok, so now we move onto the Starfighter. It has three main sections, the two wings and the centre fuselage. The fuselage is built first, along with the engines which are clipped on using technic pins at the back. The Starfighter even has some retractable landing gear, which is definitely one of my favourite parts of the set. Obi-Wan’s lightsaber can also nicely clip under the Starfighter so you don’t have to squish it into the cockpit. It’s a big improvement as many sets you need to try to stuff it into the cockpit.

You move upwards as you build the fuselage. You start on the the underside of the ship, and move upwards to the cockpit. The cockpit is situated in the rear half of the ship and the glass can open up so you can place Obi-Wan inside. It even has a mini chair! On the sides of the cockpit and the area behind it there are a fair few stickers, but luckily I managed to apply most of them to my Dad’s standards. He gets very annoyed when I don’t place the stickers to absolute perfection. haha.

After the fuselage we move onto the two wings. They are both built the exact same in terms of structure, just flipped for their respective side of the ship. By using some technic piece the wings are connected on an angle, just like the real Star Wars ship.

On both wings there are also some stud shooters, which shoot green studs.

On the left wing there is a radar dish (I am positively sure that it’s not called this in Star Wars, I just forget the name). There’s also a rotating 2×2 turntable piece. By putting her body in a compartment in the centre section, and her head on this piece, you can make R4-P17 look just like she does in the movie. On the right wing in the place where R4 goes on the other wing, there is a Galactic Republic logo made with a sticker.

Overall Thoughts

Overall this was a great set! I haven’t reviewed many Star Wars sets in a while but this one I enjoyed a lot! It comes with a few minifigures, each that have been designed really well. It also has a great starfighter build, although it’s not extremely accurate to the movie version. The starfighter has some great play features and a strong structure too.
